Re-open the Shrewsbury Railway Station – Abbey Foregate Footpath

As someone who lives this side of town, it would make walking to the train station far easier.

Absolutely! It is absurd that the only way onto the station is through the 'automatic' (staffed only when in operation?) barriers.

This would make my husband's commute much quicker.

This would be so much easier for me to get access to the station. I usually walk or get a bus from Belle Vue area, but if there was some way of controlling access in daylight hours just onto the station rather than a quick easy route into town, I feel it could be well used. Cuts down on congestion into the town centre.

Regularly commute from home in Abbey Foregate into Birmingham and this would save me personally (along with all the other commuters in the area) not only a lot of time, but also the need to use a car when I'm running a bit late. I know the pollution levels under the train bridges coming out of the other side of the station are particularly high, so this could help solve that issue, encouraging people to park in other areas of town without a long walk to the station. Personally I can't believe it hasn't already happened - seems like a complete no-brainer!

This would provide a significant benefit to businesses on Abbey Foregate. The large Abbey Foregate car and coach park could also easily serve the station. It may also improve footfall to the Abbey and retail premises in the English Bridge area. This would also aid significant new residential development on Abbey Forgate and provide a link to the College.

This would shorten the time that it takes to walk between the Shropshire WIldlife Trust in Abbey Foregate and the station thereby increasing the number of occasions when it would be possible for me to use the train to get to or from Shrewsbury for meetings.

this is long over due,and another way in from abbey foregate would make life easyer for travellers from this side of town.

Was only comtemplating the same issue myself, yesterday. I seemed to remember the path, but had to walk all the way round to Abbey Foregate. Ok if your not in a hurry, but a pain if you were.

I live my there and it would be great to open it.and one at football club.

Come on! wake up to life the year is 2017 not 1907, Shrewsbury has been years trying to get a new swimming Baths, years trying to get the north circular, and yes years trying to sort out the Old Malting s, at this rate telford will be the major town in Shropshire, sorry to say it but Shrewsbury is dying, or is it already dead, quiz, what major thing has been built for the public in the last 30 years , yes you won, it the stupid Darwin concrete lump! , im sorry forgot the theatre Severn that cant afford some decent varnish on the wood, or a full size stage to get bigger acts

Less traffic through town, less congestion around the railway station.
