This was a great facility. The members feel the school has not been honest or open about why it closed. If this was a strategic decision why was it done overnight? Very disappointing and a sad way to end something that has been around in this village for so many years.

It comes as no surprise that the sports club has closed after the Bursar attempted to take control of it after it was successfully run independently for a number of years. What's more, the current Bursar and Headmaster are totally clueless and have no idea how to run a school or a sports facility. Its strange how neither one was appointed as first choice - if that doesn't say something I don't know what does. Horrible school and horrible management.

Greatly disappointed with the unprofessional and discourteous treatment of loyal members. This reflects very badly on Rishworth School.

There are a number of reasons for the closure of the sports club being given by the school from financial to health and safety to a strategic decision. If it is financial then why close of it made £24k and why close if on health and safety grounds yet still allow the students and private let's to use the facility. Both of these are excuses! Strategic decision??!! What possible reason would they have other than to get rid of their current staff - this is VERY bad PR for the school

Here is an update on my post currently shown in "highlights". The School has now filed its accounts for the school year that ended in July 2015. They do contain a little surprise in that the profit the sports club made and donated to the school increased from £16k in 2014 to £27k. Turnover for the club was £133k in £2015 which was down £7k on the year before but costs fell by more. As for the posts about the school running out of money - it owns shares as investments worth £1.1m and has cash in the bank of £1.5m at the end of the last school year.

We have lived in the village for 40 years and have been members for nearly all that time, when it was an informal and then a formal Club. All my 3 boys have served as lifeguards and one of them became a swimming teacher; such a shame that Rishworth school has closed this valuable local facility in such a cavalier manner

This was a worth while gym and great for the community, yet the rumours you hear about Rishworth school that they are selfish and all about themselves seems to show once again. Disappointing

The school was providing a great facility here for the community. You could actually use the pool pre 2007 for a nominal fee and I have been swimming there since around 2004, It seems this decision has been taken very hurriedly without thought of impact to the community.

It has been recommended to join this swimming pool club, however I am very disappointed to discover that it has been closed. Even worse Sowerby Bridge swimming pool is now so busy with all thexex Rishworth club swimmers it is no longer an enjoyable experience.

What a joke the school are! I mean totally ridiculous the way the sports club was closed with no notice and a vast array of mixed messages as to why from the school. The headmaster and the bursar should be sacked by the governing body for the poor way the situation has been handled. The school is in disrepair and I know several friends who are withdrawing their children from the school at the end of the academic year. Sinking ship with a clueless captain and his sidekick comes to mind!!

Such a shame as Adi and Phil used to run it so well......they really turned it around. It seems to me that Rishworth School have let it demise deliberately but worst of all the school has acted so unprofessionally. I was considering sending my children to the school but am now reconsidering in light of other things I have heard.
