The council finally surrendered and the Porthcawl police station is reopening. We forced their hand because they could no longer ignore our refusal to accept unsafe streets. Stay vigilant to ensure they actually follow through on this promise.
This is a petition to re-open Porthcawl Police station, I and number of residents of this community do not feel safe as the police station has closed. Crime has increased due to this poor idea by the council to close it. If we do not solve this problem now it will only get worse. Would like to see this community back into the friendly town that we loved and liked to go out with sign and we will demand that we have as many people from this community as possible.
We just hit 100 signatures and this proves the council cannot ignore us any longer. People are sick of feeling unsafe in the town we call home. Keep the pressure on these bureaucrats until they reopen our station.

Even if it is only open during 9-5 it is a place of refuge where assistance, support and crime reporting might take place. An open police station gives so much reassurance.

Porthcawl is not a small town and even though Bridgend is a 15 minute drive and if there is an emergency this could make the difference in the outcome, also in the tourist season there is a much higher influx of people) if needed the response would be there not 15 minutes later.

It is vitally important that the police station is re-opened. Although a small town, we have a large number of visitors and the provision of a police station is both a deterrent to those who intend to commit crimes and to support and keep the rest of us safely.

it is a disgrace....as witnessed by the horrible attack at the weekend, the Clock Shop armed hold up,the simple fact that police are not in Porthcawl (a factor used by criminals) time it was sorted out .

our town needs a police station. We are a seaside resort with lots of holiday makers staying for longer periods of time now that Trecco Bay is open for 10 months of the year.

two incidents in two weekends. first a murder of an innocent young man now a 13yr old approaching old people with s knife. This is a busy seaside down especially in peak times. Residents and visitors need to know they are safe. Re-open our police station and stop crime. Keep us safe xx
