This makes no sense. Large hotels with more people are allowed, while safer, smaller condo/house rentals are not. How is this fair or sensible? As usual, the small business owner suffers.

Yesterday, Governor DeSantis announced his plans to RE-OPEN Florida's economy. Unfortunately, he has extended his suspension of vacation rentals until May 4th at which time he will issue a subsequent order for our industry. Obviously, he is buying time to develop a new order related to our industry and a reopening plan. Once again our competitors remain in operation and we are suspended. He has also extended the Safer-at-Home Order until May 4th as you will see below.
This is totally disruptive to our industry and uncalled-for after his task force was assembled and provided recommendations with extensive comments and considerations for reopening the economy. Hundreds of Florida vacation rental owners and managers reached out to the governor and were just dismissed by his deferment. Speak loud and clear and tell Governor DeSantis that we will not be ignored and want to be heard as a $31 billion Florida hospitality industry. If we don't keep the pressure on then who knows what is next. He outlines here that this order will be extended on May 4th.

This ban unfairly singles out small businesses while allowing big hotels and resorts as well as flea bag motels to operate business as usual.

This has been an extremely difficult time for short term property owners. We have not been able to take advantage of any of the other government programs. Please discontinue the ban!!!

How is it remotely justifiable to ban short term house rentals that are extremely well equipped and kept properly cleaned and sanitised, and yet think it is acceptable to allow hotels and motels, many of which are amongst the worst quality and cleanliness anywhere in the world, to continue to operate?
If hotels are permitted to continue in business, then the same should be allowed for immaculate and well sanitised private home rentals - unless of course big business is dropping brown envelopes of cash into someone's hands to treat them differently.
This decision makes one think that there is some corruption involved here!

Our business is hurting owners greatly and there is no relief for most of us as owners of self-managed STRs. Our resort has cleaning in place for all public areas with added security for social distancing. We need to get back to business!

This is so wrong on so many levels! Especially the part of government overreach and forcing us to shut down with no assistance from the government at all!
You are putting so many people out of jobs in this tourism industry and it seems like no one cares. When your state has no income from all the homeowners that take a huge risk them pay the state taxes as well,
you may be singing a different tune. Sad that the governor didn’t even have the nerve to stand up and tell us in the announcement yesterday. He is a coward for sure!

This make no sense. Hotels are more high touch, high risk businesses than a vacation rental. No way to social distance in a hotel.

Down with the Fl. Gov. Buying votes in an aging Florida demographic. 85% of the people hospitalized with covid are 65 to 100 years old. Single family homes on the beach are the very best place for safe vacation rental. See Gulf County Property appraisers site “Property Owners bill of Rights” it is clear we have rights. I feel sure it is State Statue.

I am not understanding the thinking on this matter. People can book a sleazy hotel, but can't stay in million dollar condos. My business of 30 years is going to close and my worst nightmare of being homeless will unfold before my eyes. The is how I make my living and I have worked hard my entire life building something that I take alot of pride in. This logic is insane. Not only that it will bring in a lower class clientele. Is this what you want Destin to be known for?

Not acceptable: Hotels, Inns, Resorts and Motels and now restaurants? Single Family Home Vacation Rentals are far less dangerous!!! AND: Never forget the Sales and Tourist Taxes as well as the Property Taxes the guests and owners are contributing!

It never made sense to ban 7 day STR's with no common areas and low turnovers, but hotels and motels with high volume and high turnovers were OK.
