Re-evaluate Purple Sage Elementary School splitting into Pearson Ranch Middle School

Grisham is a small school. Instead of removing students, thou should be adding students. Especially when reports that Pearson will open at near capacity.

I do not support the split of the purple sage students.

I stand with the others on NOT sending Purple Sage students to Pearson and McNeil. I will put my kids in Canyon Vista before letting this happen to them. I stayed in this neighborhood so my kids could all go through Westwood high school and did not work hard for years to have you send them to some other school.

As a parent at Anderson Mill and professional photographer who works with the sports at Grisham Middle School and Westwood High School, may I plead with you to not consider splitting off the kids at junior high and again at high school. In my experience, I have seen kids go through high school with friends they made at t-ball before school even began for them. The parents and kids with these long time relationships work together to create a stable community for the more fluid families. This community needs parents like this, instead of creating the situation of throwing kids into hard situations, can't we try to help them have a stable place to excel and be great? I can see bullying rates increase, more help with academically challenged students to keep them on track, frustrated parents who have to travel in traffic and who also have to learn new ways. I just had this conversation with my 12 year old at Grisham. He mentioned he could go to McNeil instead of Westwood. (Keep in mind we live within a 5 minute walk of Anderson mill, Grisham, and Westwood.) I asked him if he really wanted to try McNeil after having seen Westwood through my work. He was intrigued, but no given reason to want to change. Flatly, I said: "you can walk to school, you can walk home. You can come and go for football practice, band practice, events and activities without my having to drive you. If there is a good reason you want to go, let me know, otherwise, I think you should stay at Westwood". Why on earth should parents drive by a school on the way to another? If you want to problem solve on fixing the problem, I am always happy to help. Perhaps some parents would opt into a program to change middle schools or high schools, but this should be at their discretion, not the districts. I realize your jobs are hard, but please find another way.

I agree with all these comments. Also, So many new families that have moved here paid MUCH more for their homes just to be able to have their child go to Westwood. I went to McNeil... My husband went to Westwood... We paid way more for a much smaller home to send our son to a better school! We would be very upset if that were to be affected... And for what reason?

This is obviously about money. Why route schools in Cedar Park into another RRISD school rather than a LISD school like the rest of Cedar Park is in? Leave Riviera Springs alone. You already demonstrated you don't care about our neighborhood by the way you handled the flooding and also by allowing that ridiculous NISSAN dealership to build on top of the headwaters of Brushy Creek.

Having had children and grandchildren move through Purple Sage and Grisham, and having been afforded a good education at Westwood, I cannot see the benefit of splitting the school feeds to the other secondary programs referenced.

Keep the Riviera Springs students at Grisham & Westwood. I agree with all the points made.

These students and teachers have worked to build relationships and a community among the students of Purple Sage. These students should take that community and friendships with them to middle school and high school. Please reconsider breaking up this community of students and friends.

Future Purple Sage parent here (beginning 2017). This matters to our family!

I have always believed neighborhood schools are the best environments for our children. One of the reasons we moved here to begin with.

Riviera Springs should remain the same. Purple Sage, Grisham and Westwood.

This will have s huge negative impac on our students and families at Purple Sage.

These changes would have a negative impact on all the children that attend Purple Sage. OUR children have created incredible bonds, especially those in the dual language program who have been classmates since kindergarten. Taking away those relationships heading into middle school and breaking middle school bonds into a high school goes against all the research available for children who are successful in these grades.

We live in Riviera Springs, our kids go to Purple Sage and Grisham. These changes would be beyond disruptive to the lives of many children. Please reconsider the zoning changes.

Please do not send Riviera Springs children to any other schools other than Purple Sage, Grisham, and Westwood. These are the three closest schools in RRISD and it would not be fair to the children to be bussed further away. I grew up in Riviera Springs in a time where we were bussed to Pond Springs and McNeil and I can tell you that not only that the time on the bus wasted valuable study time, but the geographic distance from friends made socialization difficult.

Agree with every point made in the petition! McNeil? Are you kidding? How about we just get annexed by the LISD & be part of Cedar Park HS?
