Champlain Parkway Now a 50 Year-Old Unsafe Design. Let's Change It Before It's Too Late!

I am especially concerned with creating a new design that is safer and more friendly biking and walking. The current plan does not address the needs of bikers or pedestrians adequately.

We love our cars, but we are killing ourselves and our communities with them. We need to re-think the old plan, and design it with the bigger picture, and long term well-being of everyone in mind.

Let's do this right. Either a complete public re-design of the Parkway or send what money is left back. Let's build for the future rather than the past.

Please slow this down and rethink the old design for all the reasons you already know from others who have spoken. I am a biker and want a lane so that we can reduce car traffic! Also-- I want to use Pine street, not dead end it! Round abouts are wonderful. See Montpelier as an example. No dead end means allowing us to use the Kmart back route!

Minimally, build a roundabout for the Lakeside intersection and accomodate cycling and pedestrian travel.

Inherent design flaws to the approved project should be corrected before construction begins.

This project is an out-dated boondoggle. The South End has changed materially in the last ten years, and failure to recognize this is ridiculous. The city has failed to respond to citizens' concerns so many times over the last seven years that I am fearful that this practice will continue.

I live in the Lakeside neighborhood and have been dreading the day this horrible plan actually happens. Dead ending into the parking lot behind us is not the answer it will only gridlock Lakeside & Pine, create more pollution around the area and create more hazards for pedestrians and cyclists.

a complete fiasco!

I have been objecting to this project since 1984! The current design which stops at a light on Lakeside Avenue, forces cars to take a right to Pine Street., and then stop at another light and then turn onto Pine St., will create total gridlock. There is no way to avoid it. The people trying to exit the Lakeside neighborhood, will have to stop at a light just after the underpass, then another light at Pine. Miro- you would make much more of a name for yourself if you stood up to the outdated plan, refused to move further, and declared it to be climate and people unfriendly. And do you not realize that people in this city are totally maxed out on change, disruption, construction, improvements, etc. And, that's not even talking about trusting the judgement of the administration, given the Sinex/Brookfield mess! Time to S..L..O..W.. down.

I have a concern that we not pave over the current wooded areas on Flynn and Briggs.

How this project will improve traffic conditions along Pine Street, especially in the section from Lakeside to Pine, totally escapes us.

Just because we already have federal funds available for this project, doesn't means it's a project that should be done. At least not the way it is.
