The current design is harmful to the growing and evolving Pine St. corridor. Antiquated ideas of prioritizing truck traffic above pedestrian and bike traffic is abhorrent, Burlington can and must do better!

Recall that Vietnam-era song about pushing on into "the Big Muddy" as it rose above our heads? Is the present push for the Champlain Parkway a similar case of inertia? Of leadership blind to what's in front of them? Or of corruption through "juicing" a few construction companies with lucrative contracts? The standard for municipal policy should be to enhance livability while being prudent with tax money. This doesn't cut the mustard.

I can hardly believe the Mayor and his Team think this is a great idea! If you look at the design (not the pretty drawings of folks in Futureland) you can see it's bad. It's a big waste of money - even if it's Federal money. Pouring more cars onto Pine St. cannot solve anything - but a re-design could work. Do not dead-end Pine St. at both ends! (It already ends on Bank St. - and how will they "re-connect" it? Sheer willpower?) We need a new design for the Parkway! Spend the money wisely and we'll all be better off.

TERRIBLE DESIGN, BEEN FIGHTIG THIS DAMN THING FOR 40 YRS- GREW UP IN SOUTH BURLINGTON, QUEEN CITY PARK, STILL THERE AND THIS WILL HELP NO ONE- BURLINGTON OR SOUTH BURLINGTON. MIRO WEINBERGER- YOU ARE AN ASS IF YOU PUSH TO HAVE THIS ROAD BUILT. NO PEDESTRIAN ACCESS ACROSS, P[HYSICALLY CHALLENEGED PEOPLE IN SOUTH MEADOW AND INDUSTRILA RD IS WORTLESS AS A ROAD OPTION SINCE IT CAN'T STAY PAVED, IT KEEPS ERUPTING.

Connecting this ancient albatross to Burlington is a terrible idea. I can't conceive of any planner proposing to dump a two-lane highway into a residential neighborhood was a solution for anything. We need to analyze our existing street patterns for opportunities for one-way streets, roundabouts, and make our existing street patterns work better.
