Rc Timetable change

Please don't change the timetable. It's TERRIBLE

I think the timetable for next year is a really bad idea

I've been here since prep and I never for in my life have seen something this out ragous than this I'm making typos!!

I definitely agree with all your statements and double periods would be very tiring. It gives us time to engage yes but after a while we will start to disengage.

I've been at this school since prep and the time table has never changed and it has suited everyone perfectly fine. There is no reason to change it.

Why weren't these changes discussed with the student's before being put into placement, maybe changing a huge part of the student life without asking anyone about it, is not the best idea and in the interest of students.

At this stage, I think it would be pertinent for Redlands College to explain to parents how changing the roster would benefit the students. I believe that the extended hours will be very tiring to teenage minds. I am not convinced that this new change is in the best interests of the students.

It is hard to believe that both these changes are considered in the best interest of the student's learning and well being. While the increase in period times is still lower than most middle school and senior schooling in qld we have not heard any feedback to say the 40 minute lessons are not working therefore why change. Just another change in the cast of many at Redlands college at the moment The change most concerning is to the spiritual life classes this is ridiculous. This period of time in students lives is so important especially building lasting healthy relationships with peers and also the same staff member each year. How is this building healthy partnerships with students and staff. I am most unhappy about this change and believe that students should be grouped in spiritual life classes with like aged peers where friendships can be cultivated also why the change in name the spiritual aspect is why I send my daughter to Redlands Don't make change for change sake and should change be a consideration of the new administration rather than a changing one. Very disappointed :(

I really don't like this new idea of only 6 periods in a day. 100 minutes just for a double lesson sucks. I totally agree with what has been said and I'm very happy that this petition has been put out.

The potential of 100 minutes in one subject is too long.

Please consider the students and parents viewpoints and concerns on this matter. After all we do live in a democratic society

Excellent points are made here and need to be taken into consideration. This should be a decision made taking students and parents views into account to ensure it is not detrimental to the students. The ability for the brain to take in information over a long period of time has been proven to deteriorate after 20 minutes, the body requires circulation regularly and having a double lesson of 1HR 40mins is excessive. Please revisit this timetable and take into account what is best suited to the students learning and health

Senior students need their supportive peer groups dealing with all the pressures of being a senior. I understand you want to support the 7,8 and 9s but this should not be at the detriment of the seniors who have already built trusting relationships and support networks.

As a past student of Redlands I think these timetable changes are ridiculous! Having spiritual life class with a group of girls in my grade was the best way to start the day, we all bonded really well and all felt supported by one another in that class. That would've been lost if we'd had a group with students from all grades. And I can imagine that in these new groups students will probably stick with those who are in their grade and won't want to talk to students from other grades. In terms of making the lessons longer, I know that some days it was difficult staying focused in one subject for an 80minute double - even if it was a subject that I enjoyed. Making the periods longer just seems like a silly idea. I really hope Redlands takes into account everyone that's been complaining and voicing their concerns and does something about it, if you're paying the fees then you should be able to decide whether you want these changes or not!

Parent comment: The issue of missing important information due to classes being grouped together is significant, along with the challenging concentration issue. It is well-known that a 20 minute concentration span uninterrupted is highly effective learning. A variety of lesson groupings (some singles and some doubles) as most timetables currently incorporate is a reasonable solution. I highly value the study halls. To eliminate this would be a significant loss to any timetable system.

If the students can really make a change, listen to them.
