Rasmussen College to keep physical books as a part of all courses

keep the physical books! so much better and easier for me to learn and go back to with a book in front of me

I want the choice whether I want to look through an actual book or on my computer. Anyway, it should not matter to the school which one we use, WE pay for it either way!

I'm sorry, call me old fashion or out of fashion.. I prefer the choice of a hard copy. I feel that I can study much better with the book in front of me... With all the controversy of technology addiction and other risk involved I would much rather have an option. I mean, it's our money going into our education, it's our future, if we can't get what we want or need then we might as well go elsewhere. Plus, if they did offer ONLY ebooks, then would our cost of tuition go down since we won't be purchasing hardcopy books? Where would the money go? Why should I pay for materials, if there's no physical material? I see both sides, but I believe we should still be offered ebook or a hard copy.

I AGREE! It is such a struggle using the ebook for my class - Introduction to EKG. My GPA would be higher if I were able to study the book.

Ebooks make studying for a test or understanding any sort of the material. Physical books may cost a little more, and be easier to keep track of, but they do not help the students at all.

I like both physical books and ebooks, however, I prefer the physical. Its just easier when its neccessary to study on the go. Dragging a computer everywhere is no easy feat. I dont see why it should matter to the school, we are paying for it and should therefore have the option.

I was very disappointed to hear this news about the ebooks also, and I am so glad this petition is happening! It makes studying and taking notes harder when using ebooks. We need textbooks!!

I think it is absolutely ridiculous for the school to only offer online EBooks. I think it is simply to put more money in their pockets. Ebooks are probably cheaper for the school, and since we all pay a flat price for our books regardless of how many we need they can continue to charge the same price even if they are getting them cheaper. BULL SHIT! I WANT A REAL BOOK! I am already paying very high tuition prices to attend this school so let me have my own books.

I end up printing out everything from the ebooks becasue I cannot read books on a screen!!! I hate Ebooks!!!

I prefer the real textbooks. I think if i am going to be charged a fee for it, I should be able to keep it. I do better absorbing information when I have it in my hands and read it. I also suffer from frequent headaches and I cannot read my text on a screen. The most important part of this though is the financial implications. Tuition is ridiculously high, and I should be able to keep my textbooks for future use if I am paying for it.

I prefer real text books as well. They are easier to take to work so I can work on homework during my lunch break and I work sitting at a computer all day so when I come home and have to sit in front of my personal computer all night just to read a book I can't keep, it's annoying. Don't charge me $150 for something that I can rent for the same amount of time for $40 tops. I learn better with real books and I notice the change from ebooks to real books with my homework and tests. Keep the physical books please.

I agree the choice should be ours.

I am highly upset about the big push for eBooks. As a student I have had NO ONE ask me how I feel about this, whether I feel this is an asset to learning for me, whether I would prefer this, or if the student body at Rasmussen supports this plan. The idea that a person can learn from an eBook just the same as a paper copy makes no sense to me at all. For starters, I do not want to be stuck in a screen for hours on end to read material. I feel like I already am at the computer more than enough as it is. Also, I do not plan to drag my laptop everywhere, nor do I plan to purchase another tablet to read my books on. The materials I am paying for through my course fee should cover a TEXTBOOK.
