I have fond memories of crossing the bridge by train and seeing the lions, just before being plunged into darkness in the tube, hoping the dim flickering lights in the carriage stayed off and pulling the leather strap to close the windows to stop the steam getting in. The lions being in view would also bring back memories for many and create new ones for others. They could also move two and use them for the new crossing, which must surely happen one day.
