The authorities granted us the permit for St Georges Square and we have secured the space for our demonstration. This victory proves what happens when our community refuses to yield ground to hatred. Stay alert for updates on our assembly point and make sure you show up ready.

We support the call for a counter demonstration against the English Defence League on February 5th and believe that this even should be located in St George’s Square. A peaceful demonstration will be an expression, in the centre of the town, of all that is to be celebrated in a multi-faith, mixed community. To hand this space to racists and fascists who, as their record shows, will use it to spout drunken, racist abuse and to intimidate members of the community, is unacceptable. We call upon all authorities involved to sanction the proposed peaceful demonstration in St George’s Square of those opposed to the EDL.

I grew up here and I want my kids to grow up in a place where they feel safe. St Georges square should be for us not for bullies.

Absolute disgrace that they are allowed to just show up and cause trouble. Keep them away from our local community.
