Racist "Promposal" Incidents at Los Gatos High

We can do better.

Your class is great, and I'm gonna let you graduate. But, the Class of 2010 was the greatest class of all time.

LGHS this is not okay.

So disappointed! Always proud to call Los Gatos my hometown and LGHS my alma mater. This is not what the majority of our town represents. Take care of this an educate ALL!!!

This is unacceptable

This cannot be allowed to go unaddressed, or even delayed, in this climate. LGHS needs to take action NOW.

LGHS, you can do much better here. Your current response or lack thereof is inadequate and poorly prepares students and faculty to act like mature adults.

I was deeply saddened to learn of this incident. Swift and immediate consequences, along with appropriate training and education are *mandatory* to quell this type of hateful behavior, and counteract the current trend toward the normalization of racism. Please take action immediately.

The most disturbing consideration of these incidents is to try and understand the process that occurred within the minds of these individuals. These incidents didn't just "happen". Because of this I agree that the best approach is through community involvement and education, and, at least as I recall, LGHS was always a key part of this relationship. I encourage the community and LGHS administration to take the right course and tackle this head-on.

It is vital that this is addressed properly.

I understand that hate begins at home and am saddened that the burden rests on the school to teach that it is unacceptable to behave in this manner. Please do no allow the senior boy to graduate with his class. He should be punished and you have this right. Thank you.

We need to get serious about this, starting with educating parents to start the dialog at home. I also would say the school needs zero tolerance rules in regards to racism, meaning immediate suspension or expulsion of any student who does this, or any other very offensive racism.

I'm am truly disgusted in this act that you do such thing, I am the class of 92, who would have known you would be so racist - Do you have any lack their of and or disrespect to this cultural life they lead - you are truly in the wrong I'm disappointed in you

That promposal is racist and the school's lack of appropriate response is abhorrent. How can you let the young people go so far as thinking blackface is ok? Shameful. This is a teachable moment and so far, you are failing.

A very insensitive set of acts that cannot be tolerated by our community.

This is not a naive mistake but a cultural sense of entitlement to disparage others.

Please, LGHS, you can do better than this.
