I am ashamed of my alma mater for not dealing with this more directly, and for creating an environment where students could even consider this acceptable. I can only imagine the pain this toxic culture has caused students of color. Please take this seriously and remember it's your responsibility to educate these young people so they can become better people.

Seeing these types of stories in the diverse climate of the Bay Area is both disturbing and unacceptable. If we don't correct this here, where the community is built with a plethora of cultures and backgrounds, what hope is there for the rest of the country? The parents of these kids should be forcing the school's hand in responding and bringing about change!

This is deeply concerning as a parent & community member. I'm also a licensed therapist who works with adolescents daily. Schools have an obligation to teach students & create a safe environment for every student to learn. Please take appropriate action and with integrity to ensure this does not happen again.

I did not attend LGHS, but I grew up in Los Gatos and am sadly wholly unsurprised by both these incidents and the school's lack of response.
Failing to genuinely and immediately address these actions simply teaches the student body that white supremacy is perfectly acceptable as long as your parents are rich.

As an LGHS alumnus (Class of '98) and now a litigator who has fought against discrimination, I am disturbed and disgusted. The school clearly needs to act immediately to do more than discipline, but to do what it's supposed to do: teach.

The end of the year AND next year AND EVERY YEAR after that should make room to expose and guide our privileged students to understand the embedded nature of rasicim and help them obtain a broader view of life.
