This needs to be addressed immediately as does the family to whomever did this. This kind of behavior shouldn't be welcomed and should be addressed by a psychologist.

This needs to be highlighted. This is the only incident that has received press but I hope that other incidents that go unseen or unheard of would also benefit from the resolution to be made public. Maybe this would deter future actions from those that are clearly uneducated about our world and treat others more kindly.

Starting a community wide sign project with Hate Has No Home Here is one idea. We need to stand up and show all students how a lovong community responds to such blatantly cruel and violent "humor". Thank you for doimg this work.

I used to go there last year and they don't address African American history or any races' history unless it was a war. Los Gatos High School is a very exclusive school. As an African American in a predominately Caucasian town I felt as if I was in solitary confinement within the town I have lived in for 14 years. I am 16 years old and I have already witnessed, multiple times, closed minded people. In just my first year of high school I was ostracized. We read to "Kill a Mockingbird" and they would always turn to me to ask how I felt about slavery and how the African American characters were treated. Because I was so used to it and knew that they would do that I didn't exactly mind. After coming to my new school, Oakland School for the Arts, a slightly diverse school I realized that I had become numb to them treating me like I was an outcast. My brother is a senior and is one of 5 African American students graduating this year. In the past he has dealt with someone calling him the N-word. Back then no one did anything about it until him and another student had a physical altercation. And STILL the school suspended the student but didn't bring it up in classes. The school focuses mostly on making the school visually appealing and fail to fix what they are teaching. we go to school to learn not just for looks. I do not think that the student who did blackface was not intending to be racist. At Los Gatos High they do not teach about blackface. My mom had to teach me at home what they were supposed to teach me at school. Also that student went to the press and publicly apologized. The other student who drew the poster was just blatantly being racist and was raised racist. That student needs to talk to a counselor so they can get the help they need to avoid this from happening because in the real world people will not be as forgiving as a high school.

LGHS you can do MUCH better. Nothing is gained by waiting to act. The students, parents, and community need to see you take an urgent and public stand against racism. This is appalling and the offending students must be shown how their actions perpetuate white supremacy and violence toward people of color.

The lack of awareness of the kids involved, and in this day and age let alone the current political climate is alarming. Parents, schools and the kids themselves all have a part. LGHS needs to uphold their reputation and the parents of these boys need to step up as this does not go unnoticed by other taxpaying parents.
