I am willing to help the School in any way to do the right thing. This is a great opportunity for growth and change. When I was a student, we never addressed issues of racial identity and racism. These students deserve better. They need to know why this is wrong and what they can do about it. We owe it to them and the community.

As an educator I am horrified at these images and for this to be happening in a area where we pride ourselves on acceptance and diversity!

As students involved in these incidents continue to express little to no remorse for their actions, even claiming that the acts "aren't racist," or is even more clear that further action needs to be taken in these matters.

Immediate action and sustained education is needed regarding this topic. The administration is responsible for creating a community of acceptance and tolerance for everyone. The main focus of an affluent school should be to SERVE their community and all who reside in it. This isn't service.

We must work to stop racism in Los Gatos. These incidents are horrifying, and do not reflect most Los Gatans values.

How can anyone, in good conscience, not firmly condemn this kind of representation of your school?

For someone who attended LGHS in the 80's it's sadly not surprising that these attitudes exist. In a community where POC have so little representation or visibility it may be inevitable for kids who don't know any better to think that issues like racism are trivial, not real, a joke. It's not for a school or anyone to wipe out an attitude, but if the school bears any responsibility for its students' conduct then it bears a responsibility for letting them know that such "jokes" are selfish, destructive, and unethical -- and why.

LGHS '89. I'm not surprised to learn of this, unfortunately, but it's unacceptable. School administrators need to take this on TODAY, with real consequences for the perpetrator. I agree with one of the recent students that there is a difference in seriousness between the avatar/blackface (which strikes me as ignorant) versus the hanging invite which is blatant racism. Education is needed all around ... from this educational institution! C'mon, people.

These students should be expelled. Shame on Los Gatos High school for doing NOTHING. So basically LGHS is supporting the students in their disgusting antics. This is not teaching the students at LGHS about the REAL world. They would have been FIRED from their jobs immediately. As the DISTRICT should take action now.

These incidents disgust and sadden me. There should be a zero tolerance policy.
Let's do right by our kids.
