Los Gatos has come so far from the sleepy little town that once was one of the last segregated towns in California. Haven't we learned anything? Absolute embarrassment to see this on my local channel from Salinas KSBW8. Class of 76.

The truth is the school has a history of having a lack of diversity and of turning a blind eye to discrimination. It is time to step up to the plate and do something meaningful about it. Really ashamed of my alma matter at the moment.

I am completely disgusted by the administration's inadequate and dismissive reaction to the promposal incidents. Administrators, you should be addressing this issue immediately with a strong message of zero tolerance. By minimizing these incidents and deferring consequences, you are contributing to the current climate where racism, bigotry and hate crimes are being normalized. You are also sending a very clear message to any targeted students about the level of support they can expect from you.
I have always been a proud LGHS alumni, but today I am deeply ashamed of you.
Stand up and do what's right before you cause further damage to our school's reputation.

Just because faculty has turned a blind eye to discrimination doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There where rampant racial issues while I was a student. This MUST be addressed. Makes me disgusted to have attended here.

I am saddened and ashamed to have graduated from LGHS because of this incident. I am also angry that it appears because of the pattern of behavior demonstrated by these students that you are not teaching them the basic dignity, civility, equality and worth of each member of the human family. Be better teachers and examples for your students. Thank you.

I went to LGHS back in the mid nineties and there were so many racial slurs and jokes it was unbelievable. As someone that identifies as Latina, and came from a diverse area it was culture shock. The racism, privilege, and disregard for other cultures is sickening and addressing these issues is long overdue.

The intention does not matter. To pain your face black is a well known derogatory and racist action, no matter the context. As a student of a minority race from LGHS class of '84 I am horrified of these students' actions, and am hoping that Los Gatos High School will make this a teaching moment.

Unacceptable. The students should have apologized for their actions and been properly disciplined. It's sad that the administration at LGHS allows these students to grow up in an environment where racism is condoned. This should not be indicative of the town I grew up in.
