R-1 is R-1 in a residentiel community why should it not stand? There are enough big developements going up in other parts of the city. There is no need of this.

Please understand our neighbourhood is zoned R1 to preserve it. Would you want an apt building next to your home? I am sure you wouldn't. Please respect the residents wishes. Homes built on this lot is a better fit. Thank you.

HRM councillors and staff need to remember and appreciate that one of zoning's primary goals is to prevent new development from interfering with existing land uses and to preserve the character of a community. When developers pick away at the edges of a residential R-1 neighbourhood or purchase lots like United Memorial’s to build structures not suited for the zoning, it is unfair to the people who have invested time and money in the place they choose to call home. There are plenty of more appropriate areas within the north end in which to promote urban densification.

R1 zones must be protected and we as citizens should have a reasonable expectation that our wishes be heard and heeded.
