It is past time to mitigate the train noise in our neighborhood (Lavaca), especially at night. I live 3/4 mile from the tracks but it is so loud that, frequently, people I'm talking to on the phone ask me, "What is that noise?!?!" I don't want to have to wear wax earplugs to tune out the train in order to sleep because then I can't hear sounds I need to be able to hear for my own safety and that of my family.

I'm a downtown resident, and even a sound sleeper like me is constantly disturbed by the train horns at night. Please let me know what I can do to help get this area designated as a quiet zone.

Hey train! You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain. Be more considerate and stop the honking, or at least turn down the volume,

I have been wearing ear plugs to improve my sleep at night.
What about all the people who have chronic illnesses, or the babies and the children in school? The horns are a power tool, a symbol an industry without any heart for the public, a relic of a time long passed.

I've lived in Lavaca for 20 years, and the train noise has only become worse during that time. There are more trains, and they honk their horns longer than is necessary for safety. I personally know families with school-age children who live within two or three blocks of the train line for whom the honking at night is extremely disruptive to their sleep. The solution, extending the quiet zone per this petition, also also make it simpler for the train operators, as there will be one long quiet zone rather than several that are discontinuous. This is a win-win!

It is time for quiet in this heavily populated downtown residential area. We have had a home in King William since the late 90's and this is always "just about to happen." It is time!

I have owned a house on Devine St for 9 years and the train has been highly disruptive to my sleep and life. It honks often, loudly, and for a really long time. The house is now a rental property and I have concern about the train honking making it more difficult to rent.

I think a quiet zone here will benefit the community tremendously and convert existing blight into promising growth.
