Climbing Mt Warning in darkness to see the sunrise is an amazing experience. If the site has historical significance then educating climbers would be a welcomed. If the maintenance is expensive then charging a fee to cover the upkeep would be fair.

Besides being a beacon for the local tourist economy, Wollumbin (Mt Warning) is iconic and a desired experience even for a large percentage of Australians. Discussions with even those outside hiking and climbing groups reveals interest in this mountain alone as a popular destination. Any politician decision maker would be wise to heed this wide-spread popularity and allow the mountain to continue to remain open. The political capital loss of supporting closure would be significant.

Having access to nature helps us appreciate its beauty thus falling deeper in love with the need to protect it.

This is a beautiful mountain and should remain accessible for all Australian's to climb. Climbing does not disrespect the original landowners as suggested by some. Given as I understand, that over 100000 people per annum summit Mt Warning maintaining access is a valuable resource to the local community and business as well.

I was born and raised in Uki. I have a close spiritual connection to Mt Warning and have climbed it every year since I was 5 yo, I am now 52. I was born and raised in the volcanic rock and soil of Mt Warning, it is part of me. I was proposed to on Mt Warning and our children regularly climb Mt Warning. To be told that I cannot visit my most spiritual place feels like a violation of my human rights.

Climbing Mt warning is one of the strongest feelings of connection to land I feel in my home country.
We walk the track multiple times per year and the space is so calming, i would hate to lose that feeling that I don't really experience on any other walk in Australia.
I never summit completely, I always stop before the chains and turn around and go back down in order to try and be respectful of the wishes of the first nations people. It's not about the summit to me, it's about the space as I make the climb.

There is an originally clandestine but now increasingly obvious campaign going on, to lock up and close more and more Australian national parks to exclude the public. This is supposedly because Australians of aboriginal descent want our national parks to be closed, and therefore the parks are being closed regardless of what most Australians want. Bushwalking and climbing are very healthy and nondestructive activities. These areas were originally made into national parks so that their natural beauty could be enjoyed by ALL the nation and enjoyed by tourists whom are welcome to visit our nation.

We climb this mountain each year ,on this date, to mark the birth of a much loved son who is no longer with us. Doing so is our tradition; the mountain respected and honoured for this special reason. This beautiful mountain is treasured by all who climb it. This is not about costs or safety. National Parks should not have a lock at the front gate. Do the right thing for all. Open the track- to keep it closed would be a travesty.
