The winter schedule for PWCS has NEVER made sense to me. Please make it two weeks going forward. (I doubt you will change this year)

In a community with so many families that are not native Virginians, it stands to reason that the winter holiday will be spent out of state by many, many families. Having students return on a Thursday is asking for low attendance numbers and all of the problems that come along with that.

I was shocked to see that students are expected to return for 2 days that week. Seriously, the school board needs to rethink this and extend the break. We used to get a full 2 weeks. I know their concern is making up snow days. But we already have a longer school day than required that allows us to bank time (up to 15 extra days). We don't see this extra time at the end of the year if no snow days exist.

The time of rest, relaxation and time away is known to regenerate the mind. Keep the extended break schedule to benefit all.

We had over two weeks when we lived in South Carolina. Having less than two weeks is ridiculous, and makes it very difficult for those of us who travel out of the area.

We leave town for New Years every year, we wind up having our kids miss anyway to spend time with their family.

It seems ridiculous for the kids to go back to school for just two days. Let's be honest, what are you going to accomplish in those 2 days with excitable and tired children just coming off a holiday vacation?

Winter break should be extended. We barely have enough time to relax with friends and family. We do so much work year round. It would truly be a gift this year.
