PWCS points out that a large percentage of students are from military families. Many of these families are unable to travel "home" for the holidays because of the short breaks. It's hard enough being away all year, an extended break would mean so much to many of us.

It's a time for family. Why make the kids go to school on Thursday and Friday. A lot if us travel for the holidays

It costs more to have the schools open and running than it would to wait till the following Monday to return. It also gives families a little more time together.
