The whole "separation of church and state" thing is so often misunderstood. That phrase doesn't even exist in the Constitution! It's from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association, assuring them that their freedom of religion would not be restricted. Excerpt from that letter: "Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Th. Jefferson" Inscribed on the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C., is this quote from Thomas Jefferson: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.” Freedom of religion is being destroyed by people misappropriating the "separation of church and state." Shame on the officials of Menominee for bowing to pressure from an outside group, and letting far away people dictate what is done in our local communities!

im so so sorry if we offended you but im damn tired of trying to be correct if you dont like the manger scene then dont look at . im a taxpayer just like you and you are stepping on my civil liberties by the way read the constitution it never said you cant have things like these, just cant force you to take part in the the activities.

I'm not religious at all, yet I still feel it was absolutely ridiculous to remove the Nativity scene. It's a part of Christmas, live with it and move on.

Don't like? Different God?....... Don't Look, just drive on...

Keep this tradition going!! Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. "Christ"mas is about him!!!

I loved this was there, why should the majority not be able to enjoy it when it's just a few that don't like it!

Having lived the first 30 years of my life in Menominee and enjoying the Nativity Scene at the Bandshell every Christmas season, why should anyone wish to end this tradition? Is mankind better off without the long-standing tradition? I wish our culture had remained as it was when the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" was made.
