As long as this doesn't upset the hard work and dedication these kids put into their work and performance, I will sign this petition. However, if there is anything in this petition that keeps the cadets from performing to the level of performance expected of the Citadel, I will not authorize my signature.

This very long standing tradition has worked well for many years and has become a symbol of The Citadel. Co-mingling of the Band and Pipes has more cons than pros in my opinion. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Having seen and heard the The Citadel pipe band so many times in my 50 years I can say nothing stirs the soul like the pipe band. It was a point of pride as the parent of a Citadel graduate to point out the pipe band in the lead to friends, family, my scout troop and other guest when at attendance at parades. I have to ask if moving them is the only solution to fix the new director's concerns or just the easiest fix?

One of the storing traditions of our school are parades - made so not in small part buy the image of the pile and drums marching in front of the Regimental Band. ASK THE U.S. MARINE CORPS if they would EVER consider merging their Drum and Bugle Corps (The "Commandant's Own") with the full Marine Corps Band (The "President's Own)? Please preserve this wonderful tradition...and class act!

As reluctant as I am to interfere, this is a significant change because it is the public face of the Citadel for so many locals and visitors alike.

The Pipes are the heartbeat of the Corps, sweeping us toward higher ground. Every time we heard them we were galvanized to remember who we are, the very wellspring of leadership in time of need. Every class needs the fabric of The Citadel wrapped around them, and this change tears at the fabric rather than fixes a wrinkle...DON'T MOVE THEM! Class of '71

Please also consider bringing the duty uniform back. It is more unique, like The Citadel itself.

It is important. The bag pipe band should lead the entire band. It is tradition and is classy!

I saw the Citadel band at the inaugeration and I thought the ranks appeared confusing with pipe band members interspersed between the Regimental band. It did not appear uniform or military-esque. I fully support a traditional pipe band unit.
