The argument presented here makes sense.

Save the bagpipers! They perpetuate the great Citadel tradition of beating, blowing, and squeezing! And they've done it for years!

Class of 68/72. A Former Piper under Grant-Alexander, I fully support this petition. The points made about sounding together are truly valid. LTC Smith may be an excellent musician, but he is no Piper. Only a Piper can make those type of decisions.

We have something so amazing that sets us apart from so many other schools. Please return them to their former formation so they can be heard and appreciated as they should. They are amazing and we don't want their sound lost in the crowd. Thank you.

As a trombone player, I had a unique perspective of the pipes. I was right behind them in every parade for four years. Some of my most moving moments were marching with the pipes. The pipes are simply thrilling!!! Napoleon never allowed his Scottish marshall(McMahon) to fight the British, because he knew in his heart the man would defect when he heard the skirl of the pipes!! I will never forget when Sir Anthony Eden was given a full dress revue back in 1965. The pipes were in front of playing "Scotland the Brave". We did a left wheel & went into "Hail Brittania". As we passed the reviewing Sir Anthony saluted us!! It was one of the moving scenes that I have ever witnessed!!! Please do not take this great traditional element out of the Regimental Band. It would break my heart along with many, many others.

Please restore the Regimental Band to it's previous formation! Keep the beaters and squeezers together, and separate from the blowers.

Am the parent of a '16 Piper, and son of a '52 grad. Please restore the Pipes and Drums in front of the Regimental Band. Thank you!

I was a trumpet player in the Band 1972-1976. Loud and brassy, we were in the back. Put the pipes up front please.

They look ridiculous mixed in with the band. It makes the band look as if some are out of uniform. Not a good look at all!

As a recent (2009) graduate I was always drilled to be the same, to be uniform, with my squad, classmates, and company. Throwing off the consistency and uniformity that are stressed by a Citadel education is unacceptable and could harm the Citadel's reputation as a military school.

Please put the pipe band first.

Went to the parade today and it was very evident that combining the marching band with the pipe and drum unit just doesn't work. Music was off and also marching precision off. Two separate units.
