Oh heck no!!! If OSPI persists in this travesty of CRAPPY education, you will lose more than you gain! If my daughter is taught this WITHOUT MY EXPRESS KNOWLEDGE and ability to pull her from this WORTHLESS WASTE OF TIME, I will not hesitate ti consult with attorneys about the discrimination of HER rights, and my RIGHT TO REFUSE!

This is absolutely horrendous and overstepping the line~ more and more were seeing how parents are being overshadowed and children are being conditioned to be the exact opposite of what our society needs as a whole. We have enough issues as is. Teaching this will only have negative effects GUARANTEED!

We will not stand idle and allow this to happen to our children and youth.

This social engineering by the political forces by the Seattle elites in power is brainwashing. Gender is not a social construct, it is a biological fact of life.

These standards reflect the OPINION of certain individuals, and have no place in public schools.

In our district there has always been a time when parents can view what their children are being taught in the health/sex education curriculum and opt out if they decline their children to be taught those things. I hope that this will still be the case going forward, I certainly do not want my young children exposed to ideas and concepts that we do not validate or believe in.

OSPI, you are vile bunch! It is up to the parents as to when or if their children even hear about gender issues until they become adults. You are way out of line!

I agree that children need to be taught to respect all people in spite of differences, but you cross the line when you start teaching them that mental illness is normal, acceptable, and should even be celebrated. I do not want my children to be taught the concept that they can choose to be something their DNA doesn't agree with.

This is information to be taught at home NOT in the classroom.

Third and fourth grade would be more appropriate. Kids will discover these things on their own, and probably don't need any unwanted mandated instruction.

I'm all for teaching children respect but this has gone too far. Scientifically speaking we have insufficient evidence to conclude that there are no long lasting psychological affects attached with making a transgender transition. Would we really want to promote a lifestyle that we would later find to be full of psychological consequences? Statistically speaking this lifestyle is still relatively new and quite frankly we do not have enough evidence to back up this curriculum. I'm all for teaching respect, but we can do this without actually promoting this lifestyle. We should teach children that self-esteem doesn't come through changing and manipulating their bodies but rather through accepting themselves as who they are. Most psychologists now agree that behavior is both determined by nature AND nurture so why would this be any different? It can be hard and confusing if you are going through gender dysforia but we are doing children a great disfavor if we ignore the fact that they can influence their own feelings.

This is a HUGE overstepping by the schools; it is not the place nor the age to start discussing these topics with children. I AM THE PARENT and I reserve the right to discuss these sort of things with my daughter when I feel fit! Your role is educate my child; not push your highly controversial opinions upon her.

This is outrageous. I have the right to teach my kids my values without the schools overstepping their boundaries!
