They can take God and religion out of school and say that should not be forced upon individuals, but they feel this should be forced on individuals, especially 5 and 6 year old children! Have they lost their minds? I have 5 children 10 and under and it should be my right to teach them this sensitive topic when I feel it is the right time! I have a 5 year old entering Kindergarten next year and I can tell you that at this young age they are still learning to read, write, share with other people, make friendships etc. These concepts are way too complex for their young minds to understand. You might as well whack them with a 2x4 and knock the wind out of them. Let children be children! There is no need to shatter their innocence at earlier and earlier ages. God Bless us all and keep this matter in all of our prayers!

It's a parents job to teach regarding such issues. I send my kids to school to learn math, reading, writing, science and history. Please let me do the rest.

Leave the parenting for the parents! This is ridiculous. Pledge of Allegiance is taken out of schools, but this is ok? I don't think so.

I don't believe this discussion is age appropriate and do not wish any of my kids to be discussed this separate from my own home.

Let me decide how to teach this to my child.

Education needs to cover how to read, write and know how to count. Anything else belongs to parents alone! Period!

This is not a topic for schools. It is up to the parents to teach age appropriate material.

I don't disagree with the education of some sorts on this topic but not until maybe middle school or high school. Kindergarten is way too young. I would like to be the one who talks to my child about this topic no different than religion. My child is being taught to accept everyone as they are no matter what gender, race, religion, lgbt, etc. And details will be explained according to her maturity and understanding. Maybe they can offer classes for parents to take, on how to talk to their child about it for those that lack knowledge or just don't feel they know how to talk about it to their child or dont have time. Or an optional class that a parent can sign their child up for to learn if that is what they choose but it should not be forced on babies. We should be focusing on treating everyone respectfully and fairly in general. There's never an end to equality demands. It's either women's rights, animal rights, racial rights, lgbt, bathroom equality etc. Thats fine and all like i said im not against, but seriously there will always be some sort of equality issue and if it werent for petitions and people standing up for their beliefs and disagreements and advocating anything and everything would pass. Its ok to disagree.

It is my choice to decide whem my children learn about these things. Why cant these kids just go to school to learn and have fun?

Whoever put this into the standards needs to be fired immediately and not allowed to approach children ever again. This is beyond unreasonable.
