I vehemently object to the teaching of gender identity and sexual orientation in Washington public elementary schools. These topics are absolutely age inappropriate for elementary age children. These topics should be left to parental discretion.

You convince me that Washington is not interested in government of, for, and by the people when you hide the new stuff. If it were palatable to parents you wouldn't be hiding it from the press and the people. P lease stop opposing the parents.

This is not a subject that should be given to kindergarten children. They are just children and don't need to be confused with this garbage.

I am against this agenda being implemented without serious discussion with parents.

Any education regarding gender expression, gender identity and fluidity, sexual orientation, and HIV prevention belongs in the home and NOT in the school curriculum.

It is not the government or the schools place to teach sexuality to our children. This is the parents job, and the family's decision on the proper way to introduce the subjects and beliefs. Keep government agendas out of our schools.

They can't teach basics math/spelling/reading. What screwup has nothing to do over there but push this imoral crap onto innocent children?

I understand that some people have gender dysforia, but we have little to no evidence that they are truly trapped in the wrong body. It is interesting that the whole basis for transgenderism is that they are "born this way" but yet in psychology we understand that behavior is both genetically AND environmentally influenced. Why all of a sudden for this one aspect not treating it the same? I find it interesting that as a society we demand scientifically backed curriculum, but yet there is NONE backing this. Quite frankly we have had relatively no time to fully evaluate the potential consequences of teaching said curriculum. I'm all for teaching respect and such but this is absolutely absurd with no evidence to support it.

stick to teaching our children math science and social studies. Home economics would be great. Do not talk to my children about sexual identity.

It is my understanding that the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction's (OSPI) plans to have progressive gender education introduced into elementary school curricula in 2017 and that starting in Kindergarten, public elementary school students in Washington will be taught about gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, and HIV prevention as part of the 2017-18 Health and Physical Education Standards. I am in opposition to introducing these subjects at such a young age and for even middle school ages where parental consent is not obtained. Please take a serious look at the Superintendent's proposal and keep anything like this from happening to our public education system. Thank you, Dr. Don & Kathleen Olson
