The bill just passed and honestly I am shaking because I never thought we would actually see the day where these kids have to face real consequences for what they did to our neighborhood. It has been such a long road of meetings and endless phone calls but seeing those …

Have you heard through the news, a neighbor, a friend, or co-worker about all the car thefts, and home burglaries in Weber County over the last year or so? Were you a victim to one of these juveniles, and feel like justice has not been served? Are you worried that it will continue, or even get worse, and more frequent? Are you a parent who feels your disciplinary rights have been violated, or interfered with? Do you feel these kids need to be punished for their actions, instead of given community service hours and a fine, and let off the hook? Are you tired of the local police having little options on how they can discipline these ungovernable children? I know, I personally am tired of these kids getting away with murder, because our local laws have cut everyone (parents, police, juvenile detention centers etc) off at the knees, and told us to walk. These kids are stealing hundreds of guns, vehicles, breaking into our homes and stealing our things we have worked hard for. They are damaging our property. They are posting photos with these stolen guns on social media. They are on several drugs. They are putting our entire community in extreme danger. And they keep getting let go with a slap on the wrist due to their age being under 18. I have been told that the only thing I can do, is to contact our legislators about the issues. Therefore i am starting this petition with hopes I can get some signatures, and take them all to our legislators, to try and have things changed, before it's too late. I don't want to live in a world of fear over teenagers any longer. We have to change something before they grow up and turn into adults. If these kids are who will run our town in the future, then count me out! Little children, little problems, big children, BIG problems. Let's do anything we can to get these kids under control, and gain some parental rights back as well.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but it is honestly wild to see so many people who are just as fed up as I am about what is happening in our neighborhoods right now. It is getting loud enough that people who usually ignore us might have to finally pay attention so I am getting everything ready to print out and hand over.

These kids need to have tougher punishments! I'm tired of my house being a prison cuz of the juvenile delinquent we have that the law wont do anything about.

It is time for tougher penalties for juveniles. The thefts are getting out of control and more frequent. Perhaps tougher rehab programs with their parents participation mandatory?

They tried to get into every car on our street after the last snowstorm. Their footprints in the snow clearly showed two sets of prints, walking to every single car!

Enough. There must be consequences, severe enough to serve as a deterant for the criminal actions of minors and and the repeat offenders. Their actions are detrimental to and repeat offenders terrorize hard working people in our neighborhoods, communities, cities, and state. Enough!

Punishments definitely need to be a lot more harsh on these “kids” when they’re repeatedly committing crimes. No more just a slap on the wrist by small fines and some community service hours, especially for repeat offenders. Make them actually learn a lesson about actions having consequences since their parents are obviously not.

I appreciate you posting this! These kids need help. And sometime that help comes as a swift kick in the pants. When there are hard consequences for illegal activities, they may think twice before committing crimes. Regardless of kids background or parental situation, standards of behavior are part of being a community member. If a kid attacks another student, they are not allowed back to school for a period of time. If a kid commits a dangerous crime in our community, consequences should be similar. Both to protect the perpetrator as well as the community members. They keep doing this stuff and they are going to get shot.
