Columbia Co. needs to pause before approving any more new subdivisions on Hardy McManus. It simply cannot handle any more congestion! Schools are already over-crowded and there's no reason to pillage every single acre of land in the county so the developers can get rich! Stop the madness and come up with a common sense approach to growth without overdoing it at the expense of the current residents!

Hardy McManus Road as well as William Few Parkway should remain zoned R1. No R2 (Duplexes or sardine can communities) should not be considered or allowed along these roads until they are widened to a divided 4 lane highway with turnouts (See southern portion of Fury's Ferry as an example). This is just too premature and not responsible development of our county at this time. Vote No to the zoning change.

There is no doubt that as Columbia County goes through this explosive growth phase that new residences will need to be constructed. However, they should be done responsibly and with a forward thinking mindset. This plan does not pass that test. It adds too many homes to an already congested area.

I live in Rivershyre and am totally and I am total against doing this. It is already over run with traffic and unsafe.

Agree that development and growth are out of control. Columbia County will no longer be a great place to live. Our commissioners and planning board are creating a big city that will shortly lead to "big city problems."

While I oppose the NIMBY culture in general, Hardy M is already way too busy with drivers speeding, not paying attention (texting and talking on the phone) schools in both directions and many younger drivers not equipped to properly merge or enter the roadway safely from a side street. Further development should be closely scrutinized to consider safety over $. Most subdivisions already have speed bumps (hate them) and pretty soon, they will be on Hardy M just to slow down the speeders.
I will attend the planning meeting and encourage others to get involved.
