Protect public use of Walton County's beaches. Repeal HB 631.

Repeal. Repeal. Impeach!

I find it disgraceful to make a beach that was always freely accessible suddenly only available to homeowners.

Bad move, Florida legislature and Gov. Scott! Florida's livelihood is tourism. We come there for the beaches. Repeal House Bill 631.

The beach should be for everyone to use!

I found out tonight, at the Town Hall meeting, this bill was drafted to ONLY impact Walton County but was not told why. Something is not right here.

I am signing as a property owner in South Walton County.

You got my vote we all as a community need to take this seriously it's going to affect our economy in the future if not for the tourists coming to enjoy our beautiful beaches we all in some way will be affected

I rely on tourists to pay my salary. This nonsense has cost me thousands of dollars in lost wages this season.

It's difficult to understand why Florida elected officials supported HB 631, or why Rick Scott signed it. Any official who supported the bill should be called to answer why they supported it the next time their seat open at the ballot box. If they voted yes, the public should vote them out, as they aren't supported the people of Florida. I can't help but notice that the person who sponsored the bill isn't running for reelection.

Gov. Scott needs to be run out of town.

There has to be a way that is a good compromise between customary use and people having to sit in the water! If Florida keeps this in place there will be repercussions that could affect protected areas. Expecting a Everyone to go in only the public use beach areas will result in overcrowding. Overcrowded areas are often polluted, this affects our environment. Figure out a compromise so that homeowners can protect and use the beach without people on top of them, yet allow the public to have some room to sit and enjoy the beach too. Maybe a property line marker that extends a certain distance from the high tide line, say 12 ft. In front of that and to the water public can sit. Behind that and to the home it would be considered private property.

Lived here 23 years and had vacationed in So.Walton for years before i sold my home in Missouri and moved to what was once the most beautiful and friendly beach community i had ever been dreamed existed. I'm extremely dissapointed that the locals and tourist will be met with all this political bs about the use of our beaches that we all have enjoyed for decades. It's highly suspicious that a few wealthy, greedy and crabby people have been allowed to buy their way into a place that has been for all the people and make claim to it being theirs and nobody else can now use what we have always been using and caring for. I am not alone when i say that i have had groups of friends cancel their plans to come here and choose to spend their family time in a beach friendly vacation area. I am truly fed up and ready to sell my land and home to move to someplace that has not been sold out to the highest bidders. This is no longer paradise, it's a big greedy mess that is not welcoming or enjoyable. This put the icing on the cake for many locals and visitors. Quite a shame that the 1% shoved their way into this town and our officials have their hands out...and the Quiet Deed nonsence behind our backs & closed doors is just sneaky and sickening !! How dare anyone think they deserve our beaches over all the locals and return visitors that have made this Redneck Rivera thrive ? Mark my words, there are still beautiful beaches to visit and live that will be a glad to have our tax money and our charm that will go with us as we leave this triffic jammed, over built, ugly and upity no longer fun, environmental disaster that was allowed to happen here. Makes me sick to think how paradise was sold out to a few wealthy snobs that miss the natural beauty thst once was the most beautiful beach ever. I don’t like politicians anyway. But I’m skeptical of a rich man that made laws to prioritize the beaches he owns ...and his buddies! What the hack? Are you trying to lose the Senate?

This is my first time voting because I just turned 18 and I am disgusted with my options. I want to Vote for rick Scott but he keeps giving me reasons not to. I wish we had a third option!

Not only is it blatant that he’s kissing the ring of people that have property on Shoreline. First time in history the US has a privatized beaches! As well as serving himself. But he’s got Republicans voting for Democrat now. How could he? It is as if he wants to loose. Rick Scott has truly let me down again.

As a local, this law has made it impossible to find a spot on our already over-crowded public beaches. I’m guessing when a huge hurricane comes through and screws up private property it will come out of my tax dollars to repair something that I cannot even sit on!
