The Sheriff's office must serve all our citizens. You can disagree with the way someone lives, but you must show respect. If you cannot manage that, it's time to look for a new job.

It is disgusting for a person in a position of power-especially a person authorized to use deadly force-to have discriminatory views like these. I am concerned for the safety of our LGBTQ community members and friends so long as this officer stays on patrol.

The Commissioners and Sheriff need to publicly declare that they respect the lives and safety of all Jackson County residents and visitors, and that no less is required of County employees. This man is not fit for duty as a public safety officer.

the deputy has right to his/her own beliefs but NOT to let own prejudice, intolerance, homophobia influence how he treats people. Very concerning.

the only article in this link is the one that is quoting the bible from Leviticus 18:22 which according to the letter talks about gay people are an abomination. unless there is an article or letter that states differently, I dont see where a patrol sgt says "gay and lesbian people are an "abomination" and that his personal beliefs trump the law and the constitution.

Isn't he required to take a pledge to uphold all laws? Oregon law does NOT call gay people an abomination. What does the Sheriff's office truly belive?

Jackson County Sheriff and All County Commissioners are responsible for safety and equity for everyone and employees that do not respect that mission should be let go.

I wonder if this officer eats shellfish, as the Bible says is a sin? I also wonder how often he touches himself, which I don't need to know, or how often he has sex with his wife for anything other than to procreate? The Bible is a grouping of recounts of Jesus' loving accounts. It was never meant to degrade or marginalize! Jesus was all about love and he took it to everyone, not just the like minded!
