There's plenty of leg for everybody private and public we as a people pay for the water why are we entitled to use it for recreational fishing?

My dad and I used to fish this place and many others before big subdivisions were built and ran the public out...it is so sad how money grubbing Chesterfield has become.

I am fine with there being a public boat ramp. Just don't say that Brandermill excludes people. As a Brandermill resident I pay 450 dollars a year plus another 50 dollars to store my kayaks(they do not allow you to keep them on your property). A lot of that money goes to keeping up the boat ramps and parks such as Sunday Park- which just about everyone uses by the way. Why should the general public have access to this when the residents pay for the upkeep of it. I have also seen many people that I know do not live in Brandermill using the boat ramps and parks for that matter. If the county wants to build a public boat ramp fine, but don't try and force private communities to let you use their facilities which they charge their residents for, and btw the reason the brandermill fireworks are private is because brandermill residents pay for them, and if there is a medical emergency they need access to get an ambulace through the neighborhood- which won't happen if there are a thousand cars parked on the street.

James city county allows access to their reservoirs. I live in Chesterfield and have to go there to enjoy reservoir kayaking and fishing.

As it stands now, I can only launch my kayak as a guest of a friend who lives in Woodlake. Swift Creek reservoir is a safe and convenient location not just for fisherman but for recreational kayakers/canoeists/paddle boarders. Would love to have public access to the lake to share with my daughter.
