Please keep the gallery free! Especially for residents, i've yet to take my son, and probably never will as I wont be able to afford it!

Free access may be too much to hope for in these times but the excessively high charge (over £7?) will put everyone off from going and be counterproductive on the need to cover their costs. Plus it will add to the misconception that art is only for rich people. A modest entrance fee of say £2 and free entry on some days a year sounds more likely to bring in visitors (local and tourists) I'd have thought

Like most art galleries across the country, York's should be free of charge, except for temporary exhibitions which could charge an admission fee. It need to be accessible to the masses for it to be successful.
