I'm not a parent, but I've lived in Peters Township for a long time and have gone through its school system. The demands of this strike are ridiculous, and the union ought to cease and desist. Keep up the good work, parents!

In Allegheny Kiski Valley where we live (grandparents to student hostages that we are watching while parents are working) we have the ATI lockout. ATI offered on August 15 their last, best, and final offer. The 2200 steelworkers didn't accept. ATI brought in replacement workers and have been meeting customer demands. ATI and replacement workers are happy, but former steelworkers are not. They thought that since ATI invested $1.2 BILLION in new plant the steelworkers had them hostage just as teachers have our children hostage. Now their contract will no longer pay for their medical insurance and they are shocked at cost of Obama Care in the real world. The USW is urging members to look for other jobs. They are having job fairs. The former workers say slim chance of job let alone at the salaries and benefits they previously got. 2200 unhappy unemployed workers and very happy replacement workers . Let's hope the same will happen to Peters Twp teachers. They think that they can use students as hostages and get every demand they want. Welcome to real world . They are easily replaceable with teachers that prefer teaching vs picketing.

The Teachers are the Employees, the Employers are the residents and taxpayers. The School Board, Administration and legal staff are appointed representatives of the Employer. Consider the outcome if the final agreement had to be ratified by the Residents and Taxpayers. We all know the answer to that question. Ed Reich

I totally agree with this petition...we will wait it out! I have family that teaches at a Pittsburgh city school and I wish these teachers had to teach there.

Let's get this straight, the district is not asking for a pay freeze. When a contract does get negotiated, all the teachers will get their raise due to moving up a step in the contract. The raise they want is on top of the raise they will already receive. With an economy where inflation has flat-lined for the last three years, how do they justify asking for their normal raise plus $2500?

2000 7-8 day strike 2015 21 day strike Enough is enough. I appreciate the teachers and the education my family has received so far, but no need to strike . Who wins during a strike? Let's show character counts and lets all educated our children. If we cannot accomplish this with the current system, maybe it is time for a charter school. Just rambling, no emotions, but a lot of heart felt desire to education the children without work stoppages.

Stay committed to the cause

How can we be emotionless as parents! I can't imagine the plight of students when they go back to class. They've to go break less! This's unjust in my opinion. I hope the teachers could've stayed at work and protested innovatively! I respect their democratic rights but not at the cost of our kids' future!

Don't back down...we fully support the board.
