I stand for social justice and inclusion. Please do not include heteronormative, biased articles in Psychology Today. Please remove the recent article that promotes bias.

I’ve been listen on your site, and have received your magazines for years. As a business purporting to benefit mental health, I find it repugnant that you seem to make virtually no effort to represent diversity on your covers, and I think you probably need some more diversity on your editing staff as well. Some of the articles and opinion pieces that get through are really biased. It’s gotten to the point that I’m seriously considering boycotting psychology today, and bringing this up in conversation with my peers. The only reason that I haven’t boycotted yet is that I keep hoping you’ll make a change, but my patience is wearing thin.

Psychology Today continues to prove that they are rooted in white supremacy with articles like this, refusing to amplify Brown and Black voices and faces on the cover and in the pages of their magazine. If this is not removed I will delete my profile subscription.

We have been asking for changes to the magazine for quite some time. My group practice is prepared to withdraw all 12 monthly subscriptions we currently pay for if there is not a response to our requests for change. As someone else stated, wake up and get with the times!!

The recent article written by Dr. Thomas Plante is offensive to me as a woman of color and therapist. The fact that you run this shows you have no pulse on the Black and brown community and it’s experience with systemic racism. I will be canceling my listing with you.

Yes, I agree that threatening lives is never okay, but this article is simply tone deaf. “Karens” are oppressors, literal female-racists. They think nothing of dehumanizing, attacking, and using racial slurs against people of color. “Karen’s” exercise their power by threatening the safety and lives of the innocent people they decide to target with their hate and privilege. This has been swept under the rug and tolerated for far too long and now people are rightfully calling this behavior out. The writer is trying to humanize and promote empathy for (and consequently return power to) these “Karen’s”. The focus should be on the experiences of diverse persons that these “Karen’s” love to persecute for ‘fun’; how we can better empathize and provide therapeutic services to marginalized persons (who lives are actually being affected by “Karen’s” on a daily basis); how we can assist in the anti-racist fight; how we can help our “Karen” clients by ‘therapeutically’ challenging their dangerous, racist beliefs and behaviors.

This was not only disappointing but infuriating to read another white man come to the defense of white women. The lack of cultural competency is clear and his anti-blackness/racism is showing.
