I'm not a therapist or psychologist but I see one (of each) often. As a hospice administrator who has approved this publication for my medical centers behavioral health departments, I can say I'm disgusted. We will discontinue any and all association with your magazine. We are a community of "people" not "Karens."

You put out an article policing how Black people respond to sustained trauma. You diminished a perpetrators actions to simply the actions of a “bad person” or a “jerk” not only invalidating people’s experiences, but telling people the best way to respond. This article is another way to uphold systems of white supremacy by not only scolding black folks on their trauma based responses, but telling us that the actions of a karen are not the result of clear systemic racism that allows these people to comfortably act this way towards black people. We expect this article taken down and we expect more black representation in your articles written for black people. We also want an apology! This is more trauma for us inflicted by psychology today.

Cultural inclusivity is needed in order to meet the needs of the general population. This means including clinicians of color from the perspective of each of their cultural background to be represented.

This is a really awful article for Psychology Today to publish. I am embarrassed and saddened by your choice to lean into the wrong side of things simply because some white people are uncomfortable. It's about damn time white people get uncomfortable! Psychology Today needs to be at the forefront of the anti-racism movement, but this is completely opposite of that. Please do better.

Unfortunately, I think the author is forgetting one important fact. When these people call the police on Black people for doing ordinary things may get them killed. Remember that please.
