Asking Poudre School District to Partner for Competition Pool

YES to more swimming lanes in Fort Collins....would love it in the Southeast area.

There have been many weeknights I could not swim at mulberry because there were no lanes available or only 1 six people are trying to share. Have been upset about this for years. We pay taxes too, its a public pool.

Please! This has been needed for so long.

This will benefit everyone! The community, high school programs, club programs and more.

The high school swimmers in Fort Collins are constantly racing between practice and school early in the morning, trying not to be tardy to their first class, which is nerve racking and unsafe. Fort Collins needs another pool.

Still in PSD schools we need a pool! And have for 40 years!

Not that long ago, the residents of SE fort collins went through a long process (many meetings) of voting for what we wanted in a rec area in our part of town. We had voted for a pool, but the next thing I knew, that had been eliminated from the plans (I couldn't make the meetings because of 2 surgeries, then being out of town. We have nothing like this in our section of town, and it is growing by leaps and bounds. It's way past time the city got on the ball and got us a pool.

An additional pool would allow more time and space for other programs such as masters, additional summer leagues, senior classes

This is a necessity in such a great swimming town.

This same conversation has been happening for 20+ years, when there were only 3 schools and 1 competitive team in town. Please build another pool- swimming is a great sport and we need to support this that are involved.

Swam for four years, and was also a lifeguard at EPIC. Couldn't agree more that this should be a priority.

Please add this pool and also make it deep throughout so we can use it for water polo! Thank you, David Ball

Pure Positive for all residents

This would be a great addition to the Fort Collins community as well as the aquatic community of Colorado. When building this pool I hope you would consider the growth the sport of water polo has experienced in Colorado and the high demand for more water polo pools (pools with depths of 2 meters, 25 meters long and 15-20 meters wide). A water polo pool present in Fort Collins would allow introduction of youth to this amazing sport as well as provide a home to many master players who currently are forced to drive to Denver to play. I would love to have a deep pool in Fort Collins to play in.

I'm an avid swimmer and I'm offended that there's not a pool in our area. Please make this happen - especially for our student swimmers & competitors.

Swimming has always been popular for boys and girls swimming recreationally or competitively in Fort Collins. . There has always been great swimmers, and many state champions for girls and boys swimming. Additional pool time would be a great addition and benefit for all students.

The amount of swimmers in PSD is growing, but the pool space isn't!!

We live in Stetson Creek near the new rec center location and would love to see a competitive pool put in.

I am a LIFELONG water sports enthusiast, and growing up in Fort Collins without a high school pool was hard knowing that the much smaller Loveland community had THREE high school pools. Swimming kept me out of trouble, helped me to learn the discipline I needed to become an honor student, and has ensured optimal physical and emotional health for the rest of my life. A STRONG word of caution: It would be FOOLISH to construct a pool without considering the other sports besides swimming. Water polo, for example, requires a MINIMUM 1.8 meter deep pool with a length of 20-30 meters and a width of 10-20 meters (more is always better!!). Unlike swimming, water polo is a team sport. The advantage of a team sport from the city's perspective is that the participants form bonds and habits which are much more sustainable than that of even the best swimming programs. Planning for deeper water sports like water polo, scuba diving, kayak water polo, diving, underwater hockey, etc. will increase revenue to the pool by way of increased public participation in general. Not to mention, water polo is a spectator sport as we have all seen in the most recent Olympics. Fort Collins already has several good swimming pools, and what we lack is a pool which is deep enough for the OTHER sports!!! I have to drive all the way to Denver right now to compete, and I am not the only one. Thanks guys! I really hope this goes through!!

With 2 new high schools it only makes sense for PR1 to contribute.
