Speedo & USA Swimming ranked Fort Collins 6th, then 8th, in the nation, for swimming (2014 & 2015). Our loss in national position stems from the fact that our community only supports 1 certifiably competitive pool to host competitions & serve swimming teams for all our local high schools, competitive swimming organizations & recreational swim teams. According to USA Swimming, "with the smallest population of any city ranked in the top 10, Fort Collins... earned its spot thanks to its number of USA Swimming members, top-performing swimmers per capita and an abundance of facilities compared to the area." Would it be unimaginable for PSD to help support the growth of such an sport?

I know it's a lot of money, but it's only 2.43% of the bond and would bring such relief to the great swim programs in Fort Collins!

I think our children would benefit so much from a pool. I grew up paying waterpolo and swimming on both club and high school team. I was on the first ever women's water polo 17 and under team. It was a huge experience that I would love for the children of Fort Collins to experience the completive side to high school swim team and water polo.

Local pools currently don't have capacity to support competitive swim clubs in our growing city.

Fort Collins is in desperate need of competitive pool space. The most logical solution is to put them at the high schools. Since that hasn't happened, this is the next best option.

High school kids and all kids in town desperately need a better swim facility to practice and to have swimming meets. Swimming is one of the best sports for all ages of people!!! An outdoor pool will not satisfy the need for all the people in Fort Collins. Please put funding in better use!!!!

Getting enough practice lanes at reasonable hours is important. It will also make more swim lessons available as now the current swim lesson sessions fill up so fast that it can be difficult to get your child signed up.

My daughter has been a competitive swimmer since she was nine years old swimming with FAST and then her high school team at FRHS. She is now swimming in college. I saw the many struggles that her team had to go through to have enough practice time, lanes and times that were appropriate for practice. Our swim teams have shown just how competitive they can be statewide. Our facilities should reflect that. There are so many other groups out there that could benefit from a pool as well. Swim lessons, synchronized swimming, underwater diving, kayaking etc. This is a vital need for a city as big as Fort Collins.

We need more pools in Colorado that can support water polo--and more water polo teams at all levels. Right now all masters water polo players (and to my knowledge all K-12 players too) are clumped together in one place in Denver. Let's get some water polo going again in FoCo! That starts with having another pool that can support it--a good water polo pool is at least 2 meters deep for the full length of 25-30 meters, and is at least 15-20 meters wide.

As a swimmer for Poudre High School who trains at Mulberry Pool, building a new competition pool would greatly improve the strength of each team and swimmer representing Fort Collins.
