As a Palestinian with family in Gaza being slaughtered, starved, and shoved into a deathly concentration camp under the world support for a state that is accused of war crimes according to the ICCJ, silencing those student here in Durham only shows the school choses to follow the same concept or criminalizing and punishing students for speaking up against all the horrors we are witnessing 24/7. How about we instead investigate the Canadians who cheer or participate as soldiers in the IDF in the crimes against civilians including the calls to eliminate all the Palestinian offsprings? Is the school actively participating in Anti Palestinian Racism? After more than 19 months of a the bloodshed and heinous crimes, it’s not ok to stay on the fence. It’s not ok to criminalize and punishing the ones who seek the righteous things. It’s not ok to bully those students using the authoritative power of the school in order to satisfy someone’s claim that they are no feeling safe. It’s about time our schools get the picture right and act upon it.

Students are encouraged to celebrate their identities which can include causes which they support or that are part of their heritages. The board’s refusal to allow the students to wear the hoodies they designed is repressive and racist.

We all have a right to express yourselves and a freedom of free speech and expression. This is a means of control and silencing our voices. Genocide, holocaust and ethnic cleansing of Palestine is happening in front of our eyes. It is enough.

Standing by those who wish to express their elegance to those suffering injustice is the only right thing to do. The muzzle that the school is attempting to place upon these students is unacceptable.
