It is important that the assistantship programme continues because myself and others are really looking forward to the experience and the opportunity to improve our French.

I am so unhappy to hear of the imminent closure of the French consulate. The exchange of culture and talent between France and Jamaica over the years has benefited so many. This is a step backwards and will certainly have a negative impact on the learning of French in Jamaican schools.

This is too easy a fix, for us to go to these lengths to make happen. Do the right thing!

Cultures should and must be continuously shared. How else can we grow as a people?

Many have benefited from intercultural exchange between France and Jamaica through teaching assistantships and university exchange programmes. This kind of exchange is doubly important given the historical, cultural and linguistic ties that Jamaica has to French Overseas Departments like Martinique and Guadeloupe. I hope the relevant authorities reconsider their decision to break with these ties that have only grown stronger over the years.

Its highly in inconvenient for students to find air fare and accomodation just to get th French Visa. It would be much more feasible if an arrangement is made to better facilate future applicants. I am a benificiary of this partnership between France and Jamaica and never wish for future applicants to miss out on such great an opportunity due to these inconveniences. Please do something to help. Thank you.
