This is an excellent petition.
By all means, our teachers, French students and French scholarships recipients stand high to benefit from this decision that seeks to continue supporting the teaching and learning of French in Jamaica. They have outsourced other visa services within Jamaica's territory already. Can this one be considered as well?
This decision places many beneficiaries totally out of reach.

Please hear our plea. I speak especially on behalf of the students presently in high schools who have opted to study the French language and see this programme as one of the motivational factors in pursuing this interest. Please do not kill their dreams . Removing the embassy is like pulling the rug from under their feet.

To ensure the continuity of this wonderful programme that provides an invaluable life experience for our Jamaican students, we must knock heads to find a way to have their long-stay visas issued other than their physically having to go to Panama for this purpose. Yes we can!

As a former English Language Assistant, I sign this petition in support of the move to facilitate the delivery of long stay visas here in Jamaica. This will be of utmost benefit to prospective participants to the Assistantship programme, as well as, go a long way to maintain the cooperation between Jamaica and France in all respects. It would be very difficult for Jamaicans who would like the opportunity to work as an English assistant in France to travel to Panama for the long stay visa.

It is essential that Jamaican applicants be allowed to complete the process without flying to Panama. This expense would significantly reduce the quantity and quality of the applicants and deny many Francophiles the opportunity to learn from and share with the French people. Had this policy been in place, I certainly would never have gone.
