I am adamantly opposed to re-zoning this property as it will cause a safety hazard with the increased traffic and cars parked on the road which will make it impossible for a fire truck to enter the street if there would be a fire at the school.

I live in Sarah Hall near this parcel and object to any multifamily zoning on this parcel. Traffic coming in & out of Providence Springs Elementary across from the parcel is already overloading that intersection in the mornings. And, there is a blind curve on Providence Rd. going northbound from Ballantyne Commons Pkwy. Multi-family housing at this parcel will increase traffic at this intersection. That coupled with the blind curve increases the possibilty of mores traffic accidents, endangering lives.

This will have adverse effects on a neighborhood elementary school and a historic site.

Please save the beauty of our historical church and the safety of our children who attend Providence Presbyterian Church and Providence Spring Elementary!

This would create increased traffic and congestion in the area where our children are going to school, violate a sacred space. I vote NO for this rezoning!!!

It's time Charlotte City Council started making smart decisions on rezoning for sites like this one, which is adjacent to one of the most beautiful historic churches in Mecklenburg County. Our community should be about more than developers making money. This church was here long before the developer and anyone on council, and will be here long after. These facts along with the safety and traffic implications make the right decision clear. Council need to have the courage to follow the existing long term plan, deny the developer change, and respect this historic site and the community that surrounds it.

Well planned responsible use of vacant property is a good thing. Development for the sole purpose of making money, which appears to be the case here,is socially irresponsible. When the negative impact of a plan outweighs the positive impact of a plan, you have a bad plan.

Will be dangerous if there is more traffic

No to re-zoning on the basis of congestion at that intersection and the entrance to the elementary school, adverse impact to aesthetics of the historic church, and addition to high density residential which is not compatible with single unit housing in the area east of Providence Road.

I support your initiative.

Responsible management of development in this congested area of Charlotte is sorely needed. I recommend following the original overall zoning plan to maintain continuity rather allowing further uncoordinated growth.

This petition clearly reiterates the negative impact of said proposed rezoning. The safety of our children should never be negotiable.

This area is too crowded with traffic already and all of the green space is disappearing. Please do not jeopardize the safety of this elementary school by adding more crowding.

No.

Keep the existing zoning. Spot rezoning of this small site will only serve to justify additional high density development in an already congested area.

Please do not allow building new houses. Providence Presbyterian is an historical church and on the National Register of Historic Places. Please do not allow new construction to change this historical and peaceful area.
