I urge the City Council to disapprove this ridiculous request to rezone a measly .83 so that townhome crammed onto this land. This plan would severely detract from historic significance of the area and add to what is an already dense traffic pattern.

My concern is that going to this new zone will open the neighborhood to future development of multi-family residences and will change the current single-family ambience. Just visualize the land directly in front of
providence ssssssssssssssss
Just visualize the land directly in front of Providence Springs School filled with multi family units and the amount of traffic it would result in.

I do not believe that this project will benefit the community in any way. There is an abundance of higher density development on the south side of 485 that has already created significant density issues. I believe the character of this area should be maintained with current zoning.

This location would be better suited to retain lower density existing zoning due to small lot, similarity to housing off of the old Providence Rd, the church and school traffic.

Thank you for these words. I hope our City Council reads the comments in this petition. They ought to persuade them to vote no on the rezoning request.

As a current member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission which long ago designated Providence Presbyterian Church and its surrounding property a Historic Landmark, I am very concerned about how rezoning of property to UR-2 (CD) to allow the building of multi-family housing immediately adjacent to the Church campus will diminish the historic character of a Charlotte Historic Landmark. The Church has carefully developed its property to enhance the presence of its circa 1858 Sanctuary - the oldest wood frame sanctuary building still in use in Mecklenburg County. Why can't our City Council require the same of any developer who chooses to develop property on the same tract of land where the Church is located?

There is no way this property should be rezoned!!! The traffic problem alone should kill it. It will be an eyesore next to a National Register church. Due to the topography of the piece it will have to be clear cut and graded.
We should be preserving our natural woodlands and not let developers call the shots.
Developers have too much power in this city!!!!

Common sense dictates that this area should NOT be re-zoned. Traffic and safety would be adversely impacted. We urge the City Council NOT to approve the re-zoning petition 2017-202. Keep the current zoning requirements in place.

This plan has negative impacts on the school, the church, and the area in general. It is also a safety hazard for both school and church.

Please do not approve the rezone request so close to the school, More construction in this area results in increasing the traffic and safety challenges for our kids. Please note that a lot of families walk their kids to school in the morning the increase in traffic will make their lifr harder.

There is clearly no way that Providence Rd can handle more residences and traffic leading up to the intersection of Providence Rd and Ballantyne Commons Pkwy. It is already backed up over a mile several times a day. Further, it is DANGEROUS to have cars parked on the road where there is a school and a church. Enough building! This is not New York and we should not let our community become the Southern version!
