I am a neighbor and church member. Please come visit the church and site area to see how the area would be impacted. Thank you

This isn't right, it's greed.

If the Charlotte City Council approves the current rezoning petition and site plan, it will be proof that the City of Charlotte disregards its historic places. Over a short number of years the undeveloped property bordering Providence Church Lane will be developed with a density of 6 units /acre or more contrary to the specific density requirements of the Providence Road/I-485 Plan. City Council has a no intention of preserving the sanctuary that was erected in 1858 and in which we still worship. Development of this townhouse project is a threat to the historic integrity of this structure. Blame should be placed squarely on Charlotte Latin School which desires to "monetize" the value of a small 0.83 acre site. Having paid the tuition for two sons to attend that school, I am horrified at this display of greed. I have lived in Charlotte for 20 years and I am searching for the soul of a city that consistently and methodically destroys its heritage. This City Council and Charlotte Latin are incapable of appreciating the value not only of this historic p[lace but the contribution the church makes to many people in this community every day, whether its the homeless women served by the Salvation Army, the children in wheelchairs who play basketball on our campus or the many other charitable organizations which use our facilities. If callousness continues we will be known as the city without a soul.

Please vote NO! Preserve the beauty of the neighborhood, don't add more congestion and density!

We need to preserve these neighborhood areas as the beautiful single-family residences now present in the area - not large apartment or condo complexes which will add YET MORE traffic and congestion to our area. NO, is the answer!

Please consider the immediate and future impact of all the rezoning and overbuilding. STOP and think about what this city is going to look like in 5 years. We can't handle any more growth without true upgrades to infrastructure. We are running out of green space. Please ask yourself if you would like to live in this area and drive it to and from work and shopping. The answer would be NO.

I plead with the counsel to not approve the Rezoning Petition 2017-202; the addition of 6 or more housing units would serve to only further increase the dangerous traffic situation near Providence Presbyterian Church as drivers often make "crazy u turns" as they egress and ingress to pick up children in the morning and evening.

Sometimes there are better ways to measure the value of land other than by the almighty dollar!!

Already the traffic is more and it's a safety concern. Also, it's school area, so keeping it more spacious and green is necessary. So, rezoning should be avoided.

Preserve the beautiful neighborhood by not adding density to this area and creating more traffic along this already congested stretch of Providence Road.

I do not approve of the reazoning of this property.

Signing on behalf of the Adamson family opposed to the rezoning due to traffic congestion concerns, safety near the school, and in limiting property congestion around the historic church grounds.

We want to keep this site as “is” and not have multiunit apartments plopped awkwardly in the middle of a single unit neighborhood. THe congestion and access to that area is also problematic.

Great comment, Peggy!

Providence Presbyterian is a beautiful oasis that does not need to be altered so a developer can make money. There are also some serious safety issue concerns.

I adamantly oppose the rezoning for reasons already stated in comments and petition. Any council member who has not driven Providence Road northbound in am and southbound from 3-7, PLEASE DO SO! Waverly has already negatively impacted this entire area to the point that my neighborhood (Providence Arbours) is basically blocked in with traffic. It is insane to add the density you're speaking of to this area. It will also definitely impact our home values in a negative way. There are too many reasons why not, and I cannot think of ONE good reason to do it!

When does “Balance” come into reasonable decisions? Keeping this as a R3 gives balance. The future of the Providence Road Corridor, just one small parcel of land that could be stuffed with 5 townhomes, causing more traffic safety and congestion issues on a small road and intersection is the wrong decision. I hope good minds make the right vote, keep this a R3.

I think your statement about how this project will not benefit the community is a very good point. We have been talking about the Area plan and historic nature , the traffic and the hazards to the flow of cars at rush times, but the issue of how will this project benefit the community is very important. The primary one benefiting will be the developer, but not the community as a whole. Thank you.
