The current R3 zoning "fits" the neighborhood and should not be changed. The requester just wants to put as much as possible on the property to make as much money as possible, with no regard for the existing neighbors and area. It should be easy to say NO to this request.

For too long, Charlotte has shown little regard for its places of history. We have lost so much to development. Providence Presbyterian has been a key player in our faith community for over 250 years, and it’s buildings, cemetery and spring are sacred, historic spaces that deserve protection and honor. Please protect this community’s history. Please vote against rezoning.

The rezoning with have an adverse effect on the historic structure at the site and due to the negative visual, audible and atmospheric elements will diminish the integrity of the property's historic features. For these reasons, together with over-use issues in the area, I ask that the petition not be approved.

The proposed rezoning will have a significant adverse affect on the adjacent property. Development after the rezoning will permanently diminish the aesthetic integrity of the historical structure on the adjacent site. Noise related to development and use upon rezoning with also have a negative impact, inconsistent with the use of the adjacent historic property. For these reasons and others, I ask that you please not approve the petition.

I encourage the rezoning for greater density not be approved. The proposed zoning is inconsistent with the current neighborhoods & the adjacent historic church property.

I have lived along this corridor for 21 years and watched Providence Road be developed. The infrastructure has not been touched except to widen Providence 17-18 years ago. We can not continue to build haphazardly and not address the traffic issues. I am a member of Providence Presbyterian. This Church is historic and deserves to be kept as.

Please no more re-zoning or growth without more roads and improved infrastructure. Please charge all new construction an impact fee to pay for this.

Anyone who proposed adding more high density housing to this S. Charlotte area should really try driving on Providence Rd at pretty much any time of day. Enough! (especially with Waverly and Rea Farms).

That is a fear I have too. We have been so bent on becoming a world class city that we forget about our citizens who are being pushed out of their own spaces to make room for wealthier endeavors. I will ask each City Council member to look into her or his heart and see what lies there as far as preserving the integrity of our city's unique history and the future. Thank you.

Ginger, what a nice invitation to our City Council! I am sure if they visited Providence they would better understand why we cherish it and its grounds so much.
