Nickelodeon has recently released a new look for Dora the Explorer in order to increase ratings for their preschool female audience. Unfortunately, this new look is an older Dora who is razor thin and glamorized with fashion! What happened to the old tomboy Dora who wore an adventurer's backpack, playful but simple clothing, and had a cute tummy to display her juvenile appearance The new Dora looks like a teenager whose whole appearance is focused the stereotype of beauty that the media already profusely shoves down the throats of young girls! I am against this change because it exposes young children (Nick Jr is meant for preschoolers and kindergarteners) to the imposed importance of obsessing oneself with beauty! The old Dora taught young girls how to be adventurous and outgoing. The new one teaches young girls how to judge themselves in the mirror. As the generation that grew up with Nickelodeon, we protest the new Dora appearance and will encourage others to do so as well.
The momentum is undeniable. This proves we all remember what Dora truly stood for.

Why do they have to make everything about fashion now? Dora was supposed to be about exploring and learning not looking like a runway model. Leave her alone!
