- Pigeons are living beings that feel pain, fear, and distress, yet in Malta they are often overlooked, mistreated, or left without any clear legal protection.
Whether wild or racing pigeons, these birds are frequently injured, abandoned, or harmed, and there is little awareness or responsibility when they suffer. Many people are unaware that pigeons are intelligent animals capable of bonding, navigating long distances, and experiencing stress and trauma.
This petition calls for:
• Clear legal protection for pigeons against abuse and intentional harm
• Humane handling and rescue protocols for injured pigeons
• Accountability for those who deliberately harm pigeons
• Greater public awareness and education about pigeons as sentient animals
• Cooperation between authorities, veterinarians, and animal welfare groups
Protecting pigeons does not take away from other animals — it strengthens compassion for all animals.
A society is judged by how it treats its most overlooked lives.

Pigeons are intelligent, beautiful creatures that deserve protection and compassion
I feel thet people especially children need to see adult not being violent to all sentient being if we wish to have a healthy society.Negative actions such as these impose unhealthy minds...if pigeons are treated like our beloved vompany animals such as cats and dogs,by sterilising,neutering, building controlled pigeon homes in which vets animal carers can remove eggs and replace them with plastic ones as done to other female birds .Also ,pigeons are exemplary in the sense that couples mate for life and are exempalary to humans in that sense..AND un Valletta for example,they installed deices to repel pigeons not people with guns shooting pigeons falling bloodily on tourist andocals alike.Cab those decices not be put around our islands ..wild pigeons are doing fine by our cliffs without human u interventio,increasing other predatory bird to increase biodiversity
