Currently, The Magistrates' Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 means that any child who has suffered assault, common assault or such like, HAS to report this crime within 6 months or the Statutory Bar comes into effect, thus meaning no complaint can be made after this 6 Month Period. We feel this is unjust and petition for any crime on children to be exempt from this rule. Please show us your support and help to amend this legislation for the protection of our children. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Remove-the-6-month-Statuary-Bar-from-all-cases-involving-Children/166790303334377

6 months is nothing. Kids dont even realise what happened to them until years later sometimes. Sort this out.

Total madness. The law should be protecting these kids not finding ways to let attackers off the hook.

This is shocking. How can anyone expect a traumatised child to speak up in such a short window? Needs changing asap.

Awful that this is even a thing still. Victims need time to heal before they can even think about reporting it.
