We need more sign language, not less. Deaf and hard of hearing Americans accommodate hearing Americans all the time. Some basic ASL courses are a bare minimum.

As a person who is hard of hearing ASL is needed in schools and in the community.

I’m a teacher certified in Deaf Education. This program needs to stay in place so these students have the opportunity to learn this beautiful language. Not only that, they can communicate with others who are Deaf and some of them may even pursue careers in the future to be advocates for the Deaf Community. Please don’t take this opportunity away from them!

These students have beautifully articulated the value and importance of the ASL program. Not only is the study of language important, the students and teacher in the program have built community and a rich learning environment. It would be a shame to take this away.

I am a West High alumni and a parent of hearing impaired children. I recognize the importance of ASL as a language and I am proud of West High students and honored to support them in this cause

I am blind and if someone wanted to take away Braille from me I would be furious!! Keep Sign Language as a class just because you can hear it doesn't mean everyone can.
