Protect West High's American Sign Language Program

I myself am I late deafened adult, for many events leading up to deafness I am firm on keeping classes for all. it would be like punishment all over again and further isolations, outbursts, ...inclusion is the best way.in my opinion

I need the ASL interpreter at State of Montana!, the most other States have plenty ASL interpreter!.

It's ridiculous losing the ASL program is even being considered. Wake up hearing people and learn ASL now!

This class made an incredible difference for my daughter when she took it at West. She then continued on to classes at the U and SLCC

Keep teaching ASL! We need more inclusion!

I have a 15 year old Deaf son. In a world that he already feels isolated in so much of the time, please don’t take away a resource that helps him feel like he’s included. ASL is so important!

ASL has been a wonderful and unique experience for my child. They have 3 years, now, and will complete a 4th year as a senior. Please keep this program!

Why take away something that is so valuable and makes this school unique?

Did you know there is a cultural group, who IN THEIR ORIGIN COUNTRY are born as a minority? Their language was born there, their culture was born there, their community was born there. And THEY were born there. And yet they are still the minority.... How does that happen?? Because there language is stifled. They are the Deaf. Their language is linguistically nuanced and complex and beautiful, as are they. ASL is possibly more American than English. So why isn't a national language? Why isn't it equally taught in schools alongside English? Why does core curriculum care about articulate communication in with other Americans, but....not the Deaf ones? I don't know why it isn't a national language, but I do know that places where it is taught aren't just succeeding to help prevent exclusion of Americans, or even improve provide skills to learners of enhanced spatial reasoning, or linguistic complexity..... no it's more than that. Teaching ASL means building the sense of humanity that is responsible for the original melting pot that America was founded to become.

We need more ASL classes and more people to learn ASL. Taking that away limits students ability to learn a language that grants access to millions of Deaf people.

We should always provide this option to our children.

I am a sign language interpreter hearing I have a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University of Boston in ASL English interpreting it is crucial this class we continued we need ASL users and we need to provide access to the whole broader Society please keep this class it is important

Keep ASL classes! Today we have high demand of ASL interpreters and encourage building connections to deaf community, and smooth communication with deaf people. Knowing ASL is much benefits.

ASL is an important language that helps people to better communicate. I believe it should be an available option in schools, like Spanish or any other language.

This is a no brainer. Stop cutting education for our kids! ASL is important!

I will be the voice for those that can't hear the ignorance around them.

This is not just a language that is "hardly" used it is a way to make others feel included in conversations that might not have the opportunity to. I know asl and I am glad I have the knowledge to merge the deaf and hearing world.
